Building Energy Use

The US Department of Energy’s, ENERGY STAR program defines Energy Use Index, as “a unit of measurement that describes a building’s energy use”. This EUI is expressed in BTU’s/Square Building Footage/Year and can be used to compare energy consumption relative to similar building types or track consumption from year to year, in the same building.

Long-Term Energy Efficiency

Outside weather and occupancy data can also be integrated to provide additional weather and occupancy-normalized perspectives on energy consumption. This valuable functionality produces a long-term energy efficiency trend, that can be benchmarked and shared across the organization.

With DSA’s WatchPost Energy Use Index solution, all building meter data and building square footage information is collected and stored to effectively calculate the EUI in real-time, utilizing asset specific data templates and algorithms in the Aveva PI System.
